Pink Snakeskin Beauty Case is back due to popular demand!

The Pink Snake Classic Case is now back in stock due to popular demand.  Animal Prints are all over the high street again this summer, so we thought we’d bring back the Pink Snake Classic Case to keep up to speed with this latest trend!

The brighter and bolder, the better!

Animal prints have been popular for a while, and this summer is no different, just that the animal prints we have seen out there on the catwalks and high street seem to be brighter than normal, which makes sense as summer time is all about bright and bold colours.

You can’t get a much brighter animal print design than that of the Pink Snake Classic Case.  It’s not only bright for summer, but it also allows you to store all your beauty and cosmetic products to keep them clean and safe in the one place.  Whether you are a beauty professional, or a beauty college student, the Pink Snake Classic Case is an affordable and convenient way to store all your products and tools in the one place to keep you organised, and enable you to do your job to the best of your ability.

Stylish and practical...

With its compact, yet practical design, the range of Classic Cases is made from light-weight aluminium, and comes with a detachable handle, making it useful for mobile beauticians, makeup artists and nail technicians alike.  It comes with several compartments, that can be moved to adjust the beauty case to use as you wish.  The Classic Case range is also available in Black Croc, Silver, Purple Croc, Pink Croc, Leopard, Zebra and Giraffe.

Nail Technicians, be prepared for another busy Summer Season!

As nail art continues to grow in popularity, and with the summer months ahead we thought it would be a good idea to explore the nail art trends for this Summer 2014 to give all you Nail Technicians out there a helping hand for Summer....

1)    Flowers – This may sound like a fairly obvious one, but there are many ways in which to have flowers on your nails; they don’t have to be ‘cute’ or ‘pretty’.  You could do some bright flowers on a black background for example, this would be really effective, and would be great for a night out on the tiles.

2)    Stripes – Whether they be vertical, horizontal, or diagonal, stripes are big for this Summer, so be as creative as you like with shapes and colour.

3)    Diagonal French Tips – So the bog standard French manicure is always going to be a classic, but why not give it a modern twist by using a different colour tip instead of white, and make the tip diagonal instead of curved along your nail tip.

4)    Bright Colours – Another obvious one as if you needed reminding, but as per usual, Summer is the season to where your brightest boldest nail colours to stand out from the crowd and to match your sun tan!

5)    Abstract – This Summer is also all about ‘abstract’ nail art.  Create different shapes with different colours and be as creative as you like on your clients! Circles, triangles, squares, rectangles; whatever floats your boat, have a play around and see what you can come up with!

Be prepared!

Don’t forget to get yourself prepared for the busy holiday season this Summer; make sure you have a decent Nail Technician Trolley or Nail Technician Case for all your equipment and supplies, and a Portable Manicure Table to enable you to be the best you can be!

What do your eyebrows say about you?

Recently, eyebrows have come into fashion in a big way.  With celebrities sporting well sculpted brows, and more salons offering eyebrow treatments on the high street, there are many ways that you can maintain your eyebrows either by having a professional do them for you, or by maintaining them yourself at home.

No longer is the ‘thin and drawn on’ eyebrow in fashion; now it’s all about full eyebrows that frame your face, and suit your facial shape.  We have researched some of the methods of eyebrow treatments and maintenance here for you, to save you having to do it yourself!

Threading: This is believed to have originated in India, and is where a piece of cotton is doubled over and then twisted to enable several hairs to be moved at once, unlike tweezing, where single hairs are removed.  Threading is painful, however it gives good results, and this treatment is relatively cheap in salons if you’re on a budget.

Waxing: Warm, cream waxes are best used for the eyebrow area, as they are gentler on the skin and give longer lasting results.  Waxing is readily available and quick to have done in salons; you can do it yourself at home, however, it can be tricky, and if you do get it wrong, these results could last for weeks so you need to be careful!

Tweezing: Easy and safe to do, slanted tweezers are best to use for eyebrows, and you can use an eyebrow stencil as well, and mark on the shape that you are going for, and you can then tweeze the hairs that don’t fit into the template you’re working to.  Tweezing is by far the cheapest method, however, it isn’t as quick as going to a salon, and the results don’t seem to last as long.

HD Brows: High Definition brows are the latest craze that has taken the world by storm, and is where several steps are taken to give you the perfect eyebrow shape for your facial shape.  HD Brows involve, waxing, trimming, threading, tinting tweezing and using a powder to correct areas that lack hair, to give you perfect eyebrow.  Many celebrities swear by HD Brows, and although they look great, and you can maintain them at home when you have had your initial treatment; if you continue to go to your salon for maintenance, it can add up financially.  In saying that, this seems to be the best treatment with greater lasting results.

Whatever method you decide to use to groom your eyebrows, why not purchase a makeup case to store your tools in?

New Helping Hands From Urbanity - The New 'Nail Art Case' and 'Makeup Brush Case'

Part of our new launch of products so far this year (and we’re only in February!) has included the new compact ‘Flexi-Trolley’ and the larger ‘Nail Pro Trolley; well, we now have another couple of helping hands for you……

The Brand New Nail Art Case

So many Nail Technicians tell us that they struggle for a safe place to store their glitter pots and other smaller nail art supplies, and they often end up with bits floating around their cases and trolleys.  The Nail Art Case has been designed to fit right inside our range of Beauty Cases and Trolleys, so you can now keep all your messy glitter, gems, jewels, beads, transfers and stamping plates safe in the safe compact box.  Holding up to 24 glitter pots (depending on the size), there is also space about that for nail art discs, and on the opposite side of the case, there are elastic holders to keep your manicure tools separately, again, meaning that they are easy to find when you need them.  All in all, the new Nail Art Case if the perfect compliment to your existing Case or Trolley.

The Makeup Brush Case

Designed especially for Makeup Artists, the brand new ‘Makeup Brush Case’ is so slim, it will fit into our range of Makeup Cases and Trolleys, keeping them clean and organised; you can relax about making sure you have the right tools for the job.  So light you won’t even notice it, the new Makeup Brush Case will not take up much space in your existing Makeup Up Case, and it won’t way it down.

The Usual Designs…..

To keep things simple and consistent, you can purchase both the new Nail Art Cases and Makeup Brush Cases now in your favourite animal prints and colours to match your Cases and Trolleys!

Why is nail art so popular today?

With everyone from celebrities, to models on the catwalks, to the general public sporting various degrees of nail art, we want to know why it has become so popular.  Not only are people now wearing just the one colour (although this is still fashionable), but most people now have some sort of ‘feature nail’ incorporating a stamp, a jewel, or some sort of character or design, not satisfied with plain nails anymore.

One of the theories behind the popularity of nail art focuses on the recession; that with when our shopping budgets are under threat we look for cheaper ways to get a quick aesthetic fix.  With nail polish, you can try out something novel and get an instant, fashionable fingertip transformation for under five pounds, instead of going on a shopping spree in your favourite shops and buying a new outfit that could cost more than a hundred.  This could be true to an extent, however, as stated earlier, most people are not just satisfied with one colour, and often pay to visit a nail salon, or have a nail technician come along to their house to do their nails.  It probably is true to the extent that many people now are doing DIY nail art on their friends and family; with UV gel polish coming in to the market and being relatively readily available to the general public, and with the popularity of cheaper products on E-Bay and Amazon, it is now easier and cheaper than ever to get hold of nail art products and accessories at home.

Another theory, and the one which I think is the most feasible, is that the fashion industry has made nail fashion what it is today.  Catwalks that were led by various designers in London during autumn/winter 2012 were full of unusual looking nails, and we all know that whatever appears on the catwalks usually makes it onto our high streets, and eventually into our lives.

With nail art being all over the catwalks, celebrities usually then get load of it, and it becomes massive – before we know it, everyones talking about it, and doing it.  With nail art products now being readily available on both the high street and online, it has never been easier to create the look you want from your own home.  There are also easy nail art tutorials online that can guide you, and with practice, you can master the look you want yourself. Take a look at our nail polish bags.  Nail art trends seem to be ‘anything goes’ now, and this is set to continue for the forseeable future.

How to achieve a flawless matte finish for perfect dewy skin!

The matte makeup look has been all over the catwalks recently, and is perfect for taking your look from daytime to night, without bringing your full makeup kit along with you! This look is also ideal to take you from Spring to Summer, as it can be light; preventing caking, and it can also stop your skin from looking shiny and oily as the temperatures rise.

Give your makeup a 'solid' base

First of all, to perfect the matte look, it is essential that you take care of your skin to provide a ‘solid’ base for your makeup.  So start off by cleansing, toning and moisturising to give your skin that clean feeling (this will also help prevent your skin from getting oily and causing spots).  Once you have done this, you’re ready to start priming!

Not everyone uses a primer on their face, but it does in fact keep your makeup in place for longer, and it therefore comes in useful if you are getting ready to go out straight after work, or if you are out all day and want to keep your makeup looking fresh.  It also smoothes out your skin to give a better base for your foundation.  There are dozens of primers available on the market to suit all kinds of budgets and they are readily available in high street shops.

Which foundation is right for you?

The next step is to get yourself a light weight, matte foundation.  Many of us aren’t fond of matte foundations as they can sometimes highlight dry, patchy areas on our skin, however, this can be prevented by exfoliating 2-3 times per week, and moisurising daily.  When choosing your matte foundation, make sure you match the colour correctly to your skin tone by testing a small amount along your jaw line down to your neck – its not a good look to have an orange face!  Also, be sure to get a foundation with the right coverage; if its too light, it will show any skin imperfections like dark or red patches, and if its too heavy it can look ‘cakey’ and stage makeup-esque!

If your skin is on the oily, a pressed powder can work wonders.  If you just press some into your oil-prone areas, this will keep your skin looking fresher for longer.  If your skin is on the dry side, its better to just add some pressed powder to your T-zone to stop your look from looking cakey.

Get the right finish!

To make the best of your new matte look, make sure you finish it with the correct eye and lip makeup.  Its best not to go for all matte products; for example, if you want to use a matte eye shadow, it looks better to pair this with a satin lip stick or lip gloss, and if you have a shimmery eye shadow, ideally this will look better with a matte lipstick.  This is the same rule of thumb for bright colours.  If you are going out straight from work, why not simply add a bright, satin lipstick for the evening; this can totally change your look in an instant, providing a flattering, timeless finish.  By following these tips, people with any skin type, and of all ages, can look good with a matte makeup finish.

Top Beauty Trends for Spring 2014!

Following recent catwalk shows, we thought we’d summarise by putting together a list of the top 5 Beauty Trends for 2014….

1.    Blue Eyeshadow – Yes, you read that right!  You might not be a fan of blue eye shadow, and it might remind you of going to an 80s themed party, but, give it a try this spring, you could always wear a lighter shade if you daren’t go for a bright full on blue.

2.    Poker Straight Hair – Most people with long enough hair use straighteningirons anyway, but usually we all like to give our hair a bit of volume at the routes, or by using a hair dryer to waft some volume into our hair.  Poker straight hair seemed to be big on the catwalks for Spring – no volume flat  & straight!

3.    The ‘Golden’ Look – Get your bronzer out ladies, it’s time to stop looking pale and pasty now and get ready for Spring.  You may not have used yours since last summer, but get hunting for it now, or purchase a new one.

4.    Orange Lips – No matter what you think of it, orange lipstick is big for the Spring, so down your reds and pinks to make way for this bright, hot colour.  Again, if you are a bit apprehensive, start off by choosing a ‘not so in your face orange’ and then go brighter if you think you can pull it off.

5.    Nail Art  – Yes, its still massive for this Spring!  You only have to look at celebrities and at models on the catwalks to see that nail art is still huge, and it isn’t going anywhere!  Whether you go for matte, shiny, glittery, nude, you can do anything with your nails at the moment and still be at the height of fashion, so let your creative side be in charge this Spring!

New Compact Beauty Trolley has arrived!

Brand new, just for you...

At Urbanity, we have listened to what our customers want, and what we found was that there seems to be a lack of mobile beauty trolleys on the market that are inexpensive, and that can even be carried and pulled along by those who suffer from back problems.  Our customers have told us that they need a lighter trolley that’s ideal to travel with, and one that doesn’t cost the earth.  We feel that we have met this gap and are proud to introduce the new Flexi Trolley.

A new best seller?!
The Flexi Trolley acquired its name because it is the smallest trolley that we do, meaning it can fit into any car boot, most lockers, and it's perfect for carrying on to a train, a bus or taking away with you for a long weekend.  It's light in weight so this goes without saying its perfect for mobile nail technicians who just need the essentials.  It would also be ideal for beauty college students, with it being cheaper than most trolleys, and easier to carry around, we at Urbanity think this new compact trolley will be a hit!

Compartments for all your beauty storage needs
With its pull out trays, holding several sections for all your beauty knick-knacks, like nail polishes, nail tips, cotton wool, nail art etc., and its main, larger section, the Flexi Trolley provides the ultimate, more compact, beauty storage solution for any budding beauty therapist, hairdresser, or nail technician.  Tried and tested over the festive period, we have already sold out of much of our sample stocks, proving that the new little Flexi Trolley is going to be big!  Buy your Flexi Trolley now and see how user friendly it is for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
